Artist Statement

The prints are the exploration of layers in form and thought. The work is screen printed acrylic on paper. I also use collage. I balance the planning for printing with intuitive layering of images, relying on the expression of color. The abstract style is inspired by texture and historic or ethnic patterns. I reference 20th & 21st century artists, who experimented with color, influenced by the surge in color science starting in the 1850s.

I do not work with a concept or story. My fascination is with vanishing or revealing edges, movement, and visual experience. Color experimentation is always an essential requirement. My college training was in textile design, and I worked in color and textiles my entire career. In retirement, I am fortunate to stay connected to the industry through professional associations.
