Sharla Jean Hoskin
I studied color and textile design in college and had a career in a related field. After retiring I searched for a creative outlet and studied painting but did not make a creative connection until I took screen-printing at the Indianapolis Art Center. My process combines screen printing, monoprinting, painted grounds, and collage. My focus is color with layers and pattern. I describe my style as abstraction or expression with inspiration from historic and ethnic patterns as well as 20th century artists. I retired from Macy’s Merchandising Group as Director of Color Services in New York and moved to Indiana to share a home with my sister.
